Our Story

Owen and Emily are the brains behind Shuswap Organics. They work together to bring you a delicious line of local preserves, and fresh organic vegetables. You'll find Emily experimenting in the kitchen and out farming the fields, and you'll find Owen expertly taste-testing new recipes, and selling at farmers markets and stores across the region.
They moved to the North Okanagan from Vancouver to farm, and along the way started making jams and pickles to preserve the seasons' bounty.
We are proud of what we produce, and hope you can taste our care for quality and value in every bite.

Owen is an Irish-born recovered lawyer from Ireland. He practised as a criminal prosecutor in Dublin before re-training in Global Climate Change Law. He found his way to Vancouver where he worked in environmental law, and then in full-scale public environmental advocacy with a focus on avoiding climate chaos. Marrying a farmer wife (Emily) led to relocation and discovery of a love for the creation of organic foods, which led to the creation of Shuswap Organics.

Emily Jubenvill

Emily's love for preserves started with her grandma's canned cherries, and has grown into a love of creating and testing new and interesting recipes that capture the seasons. By day she grows vegetables, and by evening light you'll often find her stirring a pot of jam, relish, or pickles.  She grew up on Bowen Island, BC, studied environmental science at university, and spent nearly ten years working on food security and urban agriculture projects in the Vancouver area. She is loving her new home in the North Okanagan.
